The normal study time for the:
A Diploma program is TWO (2) years
A BSc. Degree program is FOUR (4)years
A MSc. program is TWO (2) years
However, a student is given a maximum of six (6) years to complete a Diploma program and eight (8) years to complete a Degree program.
Note: Please pay attention to the Academic Calendar and Deadlines.
Diploma in Accountancy, Banking & Finance and Marketing
GPA of 2.0 to < 3.3 = Pass
GPA of 3.4 and above = Pass with Distinction All BSc. Programs
GPA of 2.0 to 2.7 = Pass
GPA of not less than 2.8 to 3.3 = Pass with Credit
GPA of 3.4 and above = Pass with Distinction
This number assigned to you will accompany you (hence the term unique) through your current program of study AND any future program you register for with UG.
ALWAYS state your USI when you communicate with the university.
An academic credit represents the value assigned to each course.
Therefore, a course that is marked 4-credits would be delivered as follows:
- Three (3) hours of lecture per week
- One (1) hour of tutorial per week A 3-credit course would be delivered as follows:
- Three (3) hours of lecture per week
An elective is a choice between two or more courses.
Electives appear in:
Year I WWW1102 – students are asked to choose either UGC1101 or ENV1102
Year II VVV1101 – students are asked to choose either SPA1003, PRT1003, FRE1003, CHN1100/1200
Year III YYY3101 – students are asked to choose either ENT3100 or ENT4100
Year IV WWW4201 – elective appears in year 4 of the B Sc programs.
The WWW4201 elective allows for students to take any university wide 3 or 4 credits semester II course (that is not the same as or equivalent to a course in their program). Students are urged to seek Academic Advisor guidance before registering for electives.
An exemption may be granted for a course completed within the last 5 years once there is a significant overlap of content.
Students will be allowed exemptions up to fifty percent (50%) of the total program credits.
Exemptions are based on the exact course or equivalent course and will only be granted for courses in which at least a grade of ‘C’ or its equivalent was attained.
A prerequisite is a course that must be taken before a particular other course.
A corequisite is a course that must be taken along with another named course.
A Program consists of a number of courses and it speaks to an established discipline (e.g. Accountancy, Finance or Management).
A course is taken in 13 weeks and contains content knowledge specific to a discipline.
Courses are either Introductory, Intermediate, or Advanced level.
Within your study program, you will take courses offered by SEBI and from other faculties E.g.- ENG1105 and ENG1205 are offered from the Faculty of Education and Humanities
- ENV1102 is offered by the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences
- ECN1100, ECN1200, ECN1203, and POL1200 are offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences.
